ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Keeping it LITE" is exploring the risk of HIV in young people who identify as sexual and gender minorities (SGM). This study is particularly important because even with improvements in HIV testing and prevention, infection rates among these vulnerable groups are still rising in the United States. By enrolling up to 6,000 participants aged 13 to 34, the trial aims to understand how sexual behaviors and social factors contribute to HIV risk. Participants will use a digital health platform to track their behaviors and receive support over time, which will help researchers identify effective ways to prevent HIV in this population.
To be eligible for the study, young adults aged 18-34 must self-identify as SGM and have had certain sexual experiences in the last six months, such as having unprotected sex or being with someone known to be HIV-positive. Adolescents aged 13-17 who have engaged in any sexual activity may also participate. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to share their experiences and behaviors related to sexual health while receiving support and education about HIV prevention. This study aims not only to gather important information but also to develop better strategies to address the growing HIV epidemic among young SGM individuals.
