ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to study how surgery for carotid artery stenosis (a condition where the arteries in the neck are narrowed) affects brain health and thinking abilities. Researchers want to understand how recovery in blood flow and brain structure relates to cognitive function before and after the surgery. They will also look at patients' heart health and other factors to help predict the risk of developing brain-related diseases after the procedure.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be over 50 years old and able to complete some simple mental tests. They should need surgery for carotid artery stenosis and can have normal thinking abilities or mild cognitive issues. However, individuals with certain health problems, a history of serious mental illness, or those participating in other clinical studies won't be able to take part. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo evaluations before and after the surgery, which will help researchers learn more about how these factors impact brain health.
