ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new, non-invasive way to collect samples from the lungs using cough. Researchers want to find out if they can gather useful information from the cough that can help in diagnosing lung diseases like lung cancer and other respiratory conditions. By optimizing how they collect cough samples, they aim to understand if these samples can provide insights similar to those obtained from more invasive procedures like bronchoscopy, which involves looking inside the lungs with a small camera.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 21 years old and are scheduled to undergo a bronchoscopy for diagnostic reasons. The trial is open to people of all genders and ethnicities, but those with certain medical conditions that could complicate cough collection or bronchoscopy may not be eligible. Participants can expect to provide cough samples, mouthwash samples, and undergo bronchoscopy, allowing researchers to compare these different methods of sample collection. Ultimately, the goal is to improve early detection and treatment of lung diseases, making diagnosis faster and less invasive.
