ClinConnect Summary
The Liver Care Trial is a study aimed at understanding how measuring liver stiffness can help people with alcohol use disorders reduce their drinking or remain abstinent. The trial involves two groups: one group will receive an invitation for a liver stiffness test, blood sampling, and information on alcohol-related diseases, while the other group will only be invited for blood sampling. The main goal is to see if the first group is more likely to either stop drinking or limit their intake to 10 units of alcohol or less each week after six months.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be receiving outpatient treatment for alcohol use disorder and provide written consent. Unfortunately, those who do not speak Danish or English or have severe liver disease are not eligible to join. If you qualify, you can expect to be part of a supportive effort to improve liver health and reduce alcohol consumption, contributing to important research in this area.
