ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how education for couples can help reduce intimate partner violence during pregnancy in Southern Ethiopia. The researchers want to see if a program called Couple-Based Violence Prevention Education (CBVPE) can improve the experiences of women during pregnancy by teaching both partners about the impacts of violence, how to recognize and manage triggers of violence, and ways to support each other for a healthier relationship. Couples will be divided into two groups: one will receive this educational program, while the other will continue with the usual care provided by health workers.
To be eligible for this study, couples need to be living in the area for at least six months, and at least one partner must be pregnant. Additionally, they should have had at least one live birth and not plan to move away in the next eight months. Participants can expect home visits for education sessions and will answer questions about their experiences at the start and end of the study. This trial is important because it aims to understand how addressing the behavior and attitudes of both partners can lead to safer pregnancies and healthier families.
