Remimazolam Desflurane Morbid Obesity Sleeve Gastrectomy

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of a medication called remimazolam as a way to safely put patients to sleep for surgery, specifically for those who are morbidly obese and undergoing a procedure called sleeve gastrectomy. Morbid obesity can lead to various heart problems, which may make it harder for patients to handle anesthesia. Researchers want to see if remimazolam can help reduce the chance of low blood pressure during anesthesia compared to another commonly used drug called propofol.

To participate in this trial, individuals need to be 20 years or older and scheduled for sleeve gastrectomy under general anesthesia. Certain people can’t join, such as those who have had serious reactions to similar medications, are currently intoxicated, or have specific health issues like acute narrow-angle glaucoma. If you decide to take part in this study, you'll receive the anesthesia as part of your surgery, and the researchers will monitor your health closely to ensure everything goes smoothly. This trial is important because it aims to enhance the safety and effectiveness of anesthesia for patients facing the challenges of morbid obesity.
