ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether using Virtual Reality (VR) mindfulness can help reduce anxiety in patients who are feeling very anxious before their surgery. The study aims to enroll 100 adults who are scheduled for elective surgery and have a high level of preoperative anxiety, measured by a specific scoring system. If you are an adult who can give consent and are feeling anxious about an upcoming surgery, you may be eligible to participate in this study.
Participants in the trial will take part in a single VR mindfulness session before their surgery, which is designed to help calm their nerves. To be eligible, you should not be pregnant, have a pacemaker, suffer from certain mental health issues, or have severe hearing or vision problems. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you or someone you know is anxious about surgery, this could be a great opportunity to help explore a new way to manage that anxiety.
