ClinConnect Summary
The STAR-C Digital Coaching Intervention study is looking at how effective a digital coaching program can be in helping people make healthier lifestyle changes. The trial will involve around 1,000 participants from the Västerbotten Region who are already part of a health program called the Västerbotten Intervention Programme (VIP). Participants will be randomly assigned to either start using the digital coaching tool right away or wait six months before accessing it. The main goal is to see if this digital support helps people get ready to change their health behaviors, like quitting smoking, drinking less alcohol, eating healthier foods, and being more active.
To take part in this study, you need to be a participant in the VIP program and have a smartphone. Unfortunately, those who are bedridden, terminally ill, or have severe communication issues won't be eligible. Throughout the trial, participants will be asked to answer surveys about their health and behavior at the beginning and at several points over the next year. Additionally, interviews will be conducted to understand how the digital coaching tool is being used and what helps or hinders people from making these changes. This study aims to provide valuable insights into how digital tools can support healthier lifestyles.
