ClinConnect Summary
**Summary of the Clinical Trial: Early Visual Functions in Patients at Risk of Developing Cerebral Visual Impairment**
This clinical trial is designed to study how well infants can see from birth up to 36 months old, especially those who may be at risk for vision problems due to issues in the brain or eyes. Researchers want to understand the early visual functions in these babies to help identify any potential visual impairments earlier. The study is currently looking for participants, including infants who were born prematurely (before 37 weeks of pregnancy) and have certain medical conditions, such as genetic syndromes, brain injuries, or specific eye problems.
To be eligible for the study, infants must be between 34 weeks of post-menstrual age (which means the time since the mother’s last menstrual period) and 36 months old. However, babies who are considered at low risk for neurological issues or whose parents do not agree to participate will not be included. For those who join, they can expect to undergo some assessments that will help researchers learn more about their visual skills and how these might change over time. This information could be crucial in providing better care and support for children with similar risks in the future.
