ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a program called Physical Activity on Prescription (PAP) can help individuals with disabilities become more active. Researchers want to see if this personalized approach can boost physical activity levels and improve the quality of life for children and adults who are currently inactive. The trial will include 60 children aged 8-17 and 20 adults with autism, intellectual disabilities, or physical disabilities who live in the Skåne Region of Sweden. Participants need to be physically inactive and not meeting recommended activity levels, and they must be receiving treatment from local habilitation services.
During the trial, participants will choose activities they enjoy, which could include walking, cycling, or even gardening. They’ll keep a log of their activities and receive support through motivational interviews. Researchers will check in at various points—before, during, and after the program—to see how much participants are moving and how they feel about their activities. This study has been approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority, and it aims to find out if PAP is an effective way to help people with disabilities be more active and improve their overall well-being.
