ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to reduce the spread of a serious infection called Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) from patients who have been treated in hospitals to their family members, pets, and the environment. CRE is a type of bacteria that does not respond to many antibiotics, making it difficult to treat. The study will involve some communities in two provinces, where some will receive special support and education on hygiene and responsible antibiotic use, while others will not. Researchers will track how these efforts affect the spread of CRE through testing waste samples and surveys that ask about health habits.
The trial is currently enrolling participants, particularly those under 2 years old who are being treated at the selected hospitals. If you join the study, you can expect to help researchers learn more about how CRE spreads and how to prevent it, which could benefit many people and animals in the community. It’s important to note that the study's findings may lead to better practices in hospitals and households, ultimately helping to keep everyone healthier.
