ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on finding better ways to treat a type of malaria called Plasmodium vivax, which is becoming more common in Indonesia. The study will test a new approach that includes checking patients for a condition called G6PD deficiency, which can affect how certain malaria treatments work. Patients who have vivax malaria and meet specific criteria will receive a short course of a medication called primaquine, which is intended to clear the infection from both the blood and the liver. The trial will take place at six health facilities in Indonesia and will also involve educating patients about their treatment and monitoring their health closely.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be diagnosed with vivax malaria. However, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with very low blood levels, individuals who have had a bad reaction to primaquine before, or anyone with severe malaria are not eligible to participate. If you join this study, you can expect to receive treatment and education about your condition, while also contributing to important research aimed at improving malaria care in Indonesia.
