ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well adding a medication called lamotrigine to sodium valproate works for children with epilepsy who are not fully controlled by sodium valproate alone. Sodium valproate is often the first choice for treating seizures, but not all children respond to it. The researchers want to see if adding lamotrigine can help these children by evaluating their seizure control, any side effects, and changes in brain activity over six months.
To participate in this study, children must be between 2 and 12 years old, have been taking sodium valproate for at least six months, and still have seizures despite this treatment. However, children with other neurological disorders, those who are allergic to lamotrigine, or those with liver or kidney problems cannot join. If eligible, participants can expect to continue taking sodium valproate and to start lamotrigine, with regular check-ups to monitor their health and response to the new treatment. This study aims to find better ways to manage epilepsy in children, ultimately helping improve their quality of life.
