ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at a specific approach to help children who are having surgery for strabismus, a condition where the eyes don’t line up properly. The study aims to see if using a moderate level of muscle relaxation during the surgery can help prevent a rare but serious reaction called the oculocardiac reflex, which can affect the heart. The trial is open to children aged 3 to 18 who are generally healthy and scheduled for this type of surgery.

To participate, children need to be classified as ASA I, II, or III, meaning they are in good health or have mild to moderate health issues. However, those with certain heart conditions, neuromuscular diseases, or other specific medical concerns won't be eligible. If a child is accepted into the study, they will receive appropriate muscle relaxation during their surgery, and doctors will monitor their health closely to gather important information about the effectiveness of this approach. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so families interested in this study can discuss it with their healthcare provider for more details.
