ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to screen for cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in adults aged 50 to 74. It aims to improve how we identify individuals at risk of developing heart-related issues by combining two methods: the existing REGICOR risk assessment and the Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test. The ABI test is a simple and painless procedure that checks for peripheral artery disease (PAD), which can be present even in people who don't show any symptoms. Many individuals unaware of their risk may benefit from this screening, helping them adopt healthier habits and preventive treatments.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between 50 and 74 years old and should not have any previous history of heart disease, stroke, or related conditions. They will be assessed during a routine primary care visit and must have a certain level of risk according to the REGICOR and REASON scoring systems. Participants can expect to undergo the ABI test and receive guidance on how to manage their cardiovascular health based on their results. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to help reduce heart disease-related incidents and overall mortality in the population.
