ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a medication called dexamethasone, which is used to help improve anesthesia during hand or wrist surgery in children. The researchers want to find out if giving dexamethasone along with a specific type of anesthesia called a supraclavicular brachial plexus block can help the anesthesia last longer, making the surgery and recovery easier for kids.
Children who are scheduled for hand or wrist surgery and weigh more than 5 kilograms may be eligible to participate in this study. However, children with infections at the injection site, bleeding disorders, weakened immune systems, or those who regularly take steroid medications will not be able to join. If a child participates, they can expect to receive the usual anesthesia for their surgery, along with the study medication, and their progress will be monitored to see how well the anesthesia works. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to help improve pain management for future pediatric surgeries.
