ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Integrated Livestock Management for Nutrition in Children Under Five Years of Age in Chad" is designed to explore how managing livestock can help improve nutrition and reduce malnutrition in young children. The study will look at how keeping animals, ensuring they have enough food and clean water, and providing nutrition advice can help protect children under five years old from becoming acutely malnourished. This research will take place in specific areas of Chad called Kanem and Bahr El Ghazel.
To be part of this study, families need to live near a seasonal river and have at least one child between 6 months and 5 years old, as well as at least one unit of livestock—like a cow, camel, or several goats or sheep. The trial will involve interviews with the female caretaker in the household, and measurements will be taken from both the children and the caretakers to assess their nutrition status. Families who do not have children in the required age range or the necessary livestock will not be eligible to participate. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to find better ways to support the health and nutrition of young children in the region.
