ClinConnect Summary
The Uppsala-Dalarna Dementia and Gait Project, also known as UDDGait™, is a research study aimed at finding better ways to identify early signs of dementia and cognitive decline. The study focuses on a special test called the "dual-task-test," which combines a well-known mobility test (the Timed Up-and-Go test) with a simple verbal task. Researchers believe this combined approach could help spot dementia earlier, allowing for better support and health interventions for those affected.
To participate in this study, individuals must be undergoing memory assessments at Uppsala University Hospital or Falu Hospital in Sweden, and they should have a strong understanding of language, as reflected in their Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) score, which needs to be above 26. It’s important to note that those who have difficulty walking, have recently been hospitalized, or need language assistance to communicate in Swedish are not eligible. Participants can expect to undergo the dual-task test, which will help researchers gather valuable information about how well this method can predict dementia risk.
