ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how watching an animated video before surgery can help reduce anxiety in children who are scheduled to have ear surgery, known as otoplasty. The goal is to see if viewing this informative video the day before their operation makes the children feel less anxious when they arrive for the procedure. The researchers will compare anxiety levels between two groups: one group that watches the video and another group that does not.
To participate in this study, children must be between the ages of 4 and 12 years old and be having otoplasty without any other surgeries on the same day. They should understand spoken English, and a parent or guardian must be able to read English at a sixth-grade level. Families in the trial will receive a link to a survey about their anxiety, followed by the animated video if they are in the group that watches it. This trial is currently looking for participants, and it’s important to note that children who have had this surgery before are not eligible to join.
