ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the JoyPop mobile mental health app, designed to help Indigenous youth in Northwestern Ontario manage their emotions while they wait for mental health services. The goal is to find out if using the app can improve emotional regulation, which is an important skill for young people facing challenges like depression, anxiety, and stress. The trial compares the app's effectiveness to the usual care that youth receive during their wait for services.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be Indigenous youth aged 12 to 17 who are currently on the waitlist for mental health services at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. They will need to attend an orientation session, either virtually or in person. If they don’t have an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad, they will be given a refurbished iPhone to use for the duration of the study. Participants can expect to receive support through the app and contribute to important research that could lead to better mental health resources for Indigenous youth in their community.
