ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a decision-making tool for parents of infants who have a condition called ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). This condition can cause severe swelling in the kidneys, which can lead to kidney damage if not treated properly. The trial aims to help parents understand their options—whether to consider early surgery or to monitor the situation before making a decision. Since different doctors may have varying opinions on the best approach, this tool is designed to help parents feel more informed and engaged in the decision-making process for their child's care.
To be eligible for this trial, parents must be between 18 and 89 years old and have a child aged between 30 days and 2 years who is being evaluated for high-grade hydronephrosis at Children's Hospital Colorado. Participants will be involved in discussions about their child’s treatment options and will use the decision aid to help clarify their choices. This trial is an important step towards improving how families make treatment decisions for their children with UPJO, and it could lead to better outcomes in the future.
