ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called REST EEC, is exploring how to improve the care of young children with bronchiolitis, which is a common respiratory illness. The goal is to see if using a special decision support system can help doctors follow a standard approach for starting and stopping a particular treatment called heated high flow nasal cannula (HHFNC), which provides extra oxygen. By doing this, the trial hopes to speed up recovery for kids, reduce unnecessary healthcare costs, and show how UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh leads in pediatric healthcare.
To participate in this study, children must be under 2 years old and have a specific breathing difficulty score. However, children with weakened immune systems, chronic lung diseases, or certain heart conditions won't be eligible. If your child takes part, they will receive care according to the study's guidelines, which aim to improve their outcomes. This trial is currently looking for participants, so it's a great opportunity to contribute to important research that could benefit many children with bronchiolitis.
