ClinConnect Summary
The Project AFECT trial is designed to support families after their child has been diagnosed with autism. This study focuses on helping parents understand autism better, reduce their stress, and feel more confident in getting the right treatments for their child. It is specifically for parents of children aged 1 to 5 years who are either Hispanic/Latino, Black/African-American, or have Medi-Cal insurance, and who live in certain counties in California. The trial aims to see if coaching for parents helps them feel less stressed and more capable, increases access to important early intervention services, and improves language skills in their children.
If you participate, you will complete surveys when you join the study and again after 3 and 6 months. You will also work closely with a Project AFECT Coach who will guide you through the process. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it’s a great opportunity for eligible families to receive support during this important time.
