ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on testing a new tool designed to measure hand dexterity in patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM). DCM is a condition caused by pressure on the spinal cord in the neck, leading to symptoms like difficulty using your hands. While surgery can help relieve the pressure, many patients still struggle with hand function afterward. The researchers hope that by using this new dexterity assessment tool, they can better understand how hand function relates to the severity of DCM and help identify problems earlier, which could lead to better treatment outcomes.
To participate in the study, individuals need to be between 35 and 75 years old and have been diagnosed with DCM, without any other neurological disorders. Healthy participants who meet the same age criteria and also do not have any neurological issues are welcome. All participants should be comfortable reading and speaking English. Those who join the study will undergo assessments using the new dexterity tool, which aims to show how well it works and how it can help in monitoring DCM over time.
