ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of a special type of nutrition, known as immunonutrition, on patients with colorectal cancer who are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) surgery. The goal is to see if this nutritional support can help reduce complications after surgery, such as infections, and shorten the time patients need to stay in the hospital. Malnutrition is common among cancer patients, which can lead to a higher risk of complications and a longer recovery time. By providing specific nutrients before surgery, researchers hope to improve patients' recovery and overall health outcomes.

To participate in this study, you must be between 20 and 85 years old, have a primary colorectal cancer that can be treated with minimally invasive surgery, and have no issues eating normally. However, if you've had certain conditions, like emergency surgery or other serious illnesses, you may not be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive tailored nutritional support leading up to your surgery, and researchers will also take a small sample of your body fat to study how it relates to inflammation and recovery. This trial is important because it aims to improve care for patients like you undergoing colorectal surgery.
