ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether looking at a collection of images can help reduce anxiety in patients who are about to undergo surgery on their upper limbs. Many people experience anxiety before surgery, which can affect their overall experience and recovery. In this trial, 167 patients aged 18 and older, who are set to have upper limb surgeries, will be invited to participate. They will be divided into two groups: one group will view a special catalog of images for 25 minutes before their surgery, while both groups will receive standard care.
To participate, individuals need to be over 18 years old and have a condition affecting their upper limb that requires surgery. They must also be able to understand the study and give their consent to participate. Patients who are blind or have severe vision problems that can't be corrected with glasses, or who have certain cognitive issues, will not be eligible. Throughout the trial, patients will be monitored for anxiety levels and vital signs before their surgery to see if looking at images can help them feel calmer and improve their recovery. This study aims to find new ways to support patients in managing their anxiety before surgery.
