ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a combination of exergaming (which uses video games that promote physical activity) and resistance training (exercise that helps build strength) can help improve frailty in residents of nursing homes. Frailty can make older adults more vulnerable to health problems, and it is often linked to issues like muscle loss (called sarcopenia) and cognitive decline (memory and thinking problems). The goal of this study is to see if these exercises can help improve mobility, mood, and overall health in older adults who are experiencing frailty.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to live in a nursing home and meet certain criteria indicating they are frail, such as having difficulty with daily activities. They should also have a good score on a mental test and be able to follow instructions. However, those who are already involved in other clinical trials, have certain medical conditions, or cannot walk independently may not qualify. Participants can expect to engage in fun, interactive exercise sessions that not only focus on building strength but also encourage social interaction and cognitive engagement. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it’s a great opportunity for eligible nursing home residents to potentially improve their health and well-being.
