ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether a medication called tranexamic acid can help reduce blood loss during vaginal hysterectomy surgery. In this study, women who are scheduled for this type of surgery will be randomly placed into two groups. One group will receive tranexamic acid through an IV before their surgery, while the other group will receive a saline solution, which is just a mixture of salt and water. The goal is to see if those who receive the medication have less bleeding compared to those who do not.
To participate in this trial, women must be generally healthy and about to have an elective vaginal hysterectomy for issues like pelvic organ prolapse. However, those with certain conditions, such as allergies to tranexamic acid or a history of blood clotting problems, will not be eligible. Participants can expect to receive either the medication or the saline solution before their surgery, and they will be monitored for their health and recovery. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to find out if tranexamic acid can be a helpful option for reducing blood loss during these surgeries.
