ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a treatment for a condition called tracheal stenosis, which can occur after a tracheostomy—a procedure where a tube is placed in the neck to help with breathing. The goal of the study is to see if a technique called cryotherapy can help relieve the narrowing of the trachea (the windpipe) so that patients can breathe more easily and possibly remove their tracheal tube permanently. Participants will first undergo an examination to confirm tracheal stenosis, and if they are eligible, they will receive cryotherapy as part of this study.
To participate, you must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have tracheal stenosis following a tracheostomy. Unfortunately, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those who do not consent to the study, cannot take part. If you join, the treatment will be done under mild sedation, similar to what is used for a bronchoscopy (a procedure to look inside the lungs). After the treatment, you'll have a follow-up appointment about 10 days later to see how you are doing. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to offer a new option for those struggling with breathing difficulties due to tracheal stenosis.
