ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on testing how well doctors and therapists can measure spinal stiffness in young people with conditions like hyperkyphosis (excessive rounding of the back) and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (curvature of the spine with no known cause). The goal is to find out if the tests used in regular check-ups are reliable and accurate in identifying patients who might struggle with treatment. Researchers will compare the results of these tests with past X-rays of patients to see how well they predict treatment outcomes.
To participate in this study, young people between the ages of 10 and 17 who have a curve in their spine greater than 10 degrees or a significant rounding of the back (over 50 degrees) may be eligible. However, those who have had spinal surgery, experience back pain, or have other specific spinal conditions will not be included. Participants can expect to undergo standard assessments of their spine, which will help improve the understanding of how to evaluate spinal stiffness accurately. This information could lead to better treatment options for young people with these spinal conditions in the future.
