ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of antibiotics on healing after a dental procedure called surgical crown lengthening, which is needed for certain tooth issues. The researchers want to find out if taking a single dose of antibiotics before the surgery helps patients heal better compared to those who do not take antibiotics. To do this, participants will receive either the antibiotic amoxicillin with clavulanate or a placebo (a sugar pill that looks like the real medication) an hour before their surgery, without knowing which one they received.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be healthy adults aged 18 and older who need crown lengthening on one or two teeth. However, those with certain health conditions, recent antibiotic use, pregnancy, or specific dental issues will not be included. Participants in the trial can expect to have their healing monitored after surgery, and they will share how they feel about their recovery. This study is important because it could help determine if antibiotics are beneficial for healing in dental surgeries.
