ClinConnect Summary
The Prostate Cancer, Genetic Risk, and Equitable Screening Study (ProGRESS) is looking into a new way to help identify men at risk for significant prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is very common among Veterans and can sometimes be hard to detect with current screening methods. This study aims to see if a genetic test can better identify men who truly need treatment for prostate cancer while helping those at low risk avoid unnecessary procedures like biopsies, which can be stressful and invasive.
To participate in this study, you need to be a male Veteran aged 55 to 69 who receives regular care at a VA facility. Unfortunately, if you've had prostate cancer before, or certain medical procedures related to it, you won't be able to join. If you qualify and decide to take part, you can expect to undergo genetic testing and contribute to research that could improve prostate cancer screening for other Veterans in the future. This trial is currently recruiting participants and aims to make a significant difference in how prostate cancer is detected and managed.
