ClinConnect Summary
The "Goals for Epilepsy Clinic Visits Trial" is a study designed to see if a new tool called the "Epilepsy Visit Planner" can help improve communication between patients with drug-resistant epilepsy and their healthcare providers. This tool is a tablet-based program that patients can use while waiting for their appointments. Researchers believe that using this planner may not only make communication better but also enhance the overall quality of life for patients. They will also evaluate how easy and acceptable the tool is for both patients and providers, which could lead to larger studies in the future.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult (18 years or older) with drug-resistant epilepsy and receiving care at the University of Michigan's epilepsy clinics. Unfortunately, if you don't speak English, don’t have a clear diagnosis of drug-resistant epilepsy, or have significant cognitive difficulties that would make it hard for you to complete study questionnaires, you won't be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to use the Epilepsy Visit Planner during your clinic visits and provide feedback about your experience. This study is currently recruiting participants and is open to anyone within the specified age range.
