ClinConnect Summary
The InterNatIonal CHildhood Leukemia Microbiome/MEtabolome Cohort trial is studying how nutrition affects children and teenagers who have just been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of blood cancer. The researchers believe that understanding the nutritional status of these patients can help improve their treatment outcomes and overall health. They will collect important health data and biological samples from young patients, including their height, weight, diet, and lifestyle habits, both during treatment and for a year after treatment ends. This information will help doctors learn more about how nutrition impacts cancer progression and recovery.
To be eligible for this study, patients must be between 3 and 18 years old, have a new diagnosis of B- or T-cell ALL or mixed phenotype acute leukemia, and be receiving treatment at one of the participating medical centers. However, patients who are undergoing a specific type of treatment called hematopoietic cell transplant will not be included in the study. Participants can expect to share information about their health and lifestyle over time, which will contribute to future research aimed at improving care for children with leukemia.
