ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the body uses energy before and after major liver surgery, which is often needed for cancer or liver diseases. The goal is to understand how patients' fitness levels before surgery can affect their recovery and risk of complications afterward. Researchers will measure energy use and fitness in patients scheduled for liver resection (surgery to remove part of the liver) to see how these factors relate to each other.
To participate, individuals must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a significant liver surgery that involves removing three or more segments of the liver. They should also be able to understand Dutch to follow instructions during the study. Participants can expect to undergo tests that measure their energy use and fitness levels both before and after surgery. This research aims to help develop personalized exercise programs that could improve recovery outcomes for patients who are not in peak physical condition.
