ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of prosthetic arms (like aesthetic, mechanical, and myoelectric) affect a person's ability to feel a connection with their prosthesis. Researchers want to see if patients who have lost an arm can experience an illusion where they feel as if their prosthetic arm is their own, similar to the well-known "rubber hand illusion." Participants in the study will include individuals aged 65 and older who have had an upper limb amputation, and they will be asked to take part in activities that help assess this feeling of connection.
To take part in the study, individuals must have at least one upper limb amputation and be able to understand and consent to the study. Those with serious neurological, visual, or psychiatric conditions, or any issues that could hinder their understanding of the study, will not be eligible. Participants can expect to take part in exercises where they will interact with their prosthesis in different ways and answer questionnaires about their experiences. The study is currently looking for volunteers, and it's a great opportunity to contribute to understanding how different prosthetic designs may improve the experience for amputees.
