ClinConnect Summary
The Bullseye EVD trial is studying a new technology aimed at improving the placement of a device called an external ventricular drain (EVD), which helps relieve pressure in the brain. This procedure is often needed in emergencies when there is an increase in pressure due to various conditions. Currently, about 60% of EVD placements can be done incorrectly because doctors do not have a reliable way to check the catheter's position before inserting it. This trial will test the Bullseye EVD technology, which is designed to help ensure that the catheter is placed correctly during these critical procedures.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for an EVD placement, with a recent head scan available. The study is open to patients in specific intensive care units. If you or a loved one participates, you can expect to be involved in a study that could improve EVD procedures, potentially leading to better outcomes for future patients. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested can discuss it with their healthcare team for more information.
