ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) affects thinking and memory in patients with Parkinson's Disease. The goal is to find specific markers in the brain that can help researchers understand any changes in cognitive function related to DBS. By collecting data during and after the surgery, the researchers hope to improve how the DBS system is set up and programmed, which could help reduce any negative effects on thinking that some patients experience.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for DBS surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. They need to have a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease confirmed by a specialist and should be able to follow instructions during testing. The trial is currently looking for participants, and those who join can expect to contribute to important research that may lead to better outcomes for future patients undergoing DBS.
