ClinConnect Summary
The Latin American Surgical Outcomes Study in Pediatric Patients is a research project looking at how often children experience complications after surgery in various hospitals across Latin America. The study will include all children and teenagers under 18 years old who are admitted for both planned (elective) and unplanned (nonelective) surgeries. Researchers want to understand how common these complications are within the first 30 days after surgery.
If your child is under 18 and is scheduled for surgery at one of the participating hospitals in Latin America, they may be eligible to join the study. This research will involve observing the patients to track any problems that arise after their procedures. It's important to note that this study does not include children undergoing certain types of procedures, such as those that don't require surgery or are related to childbirth. By participating, families can contribute to important findings that may help improve surgical care for children in the future.
