ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to study how blood sugar levels behave in overweight and obese adolescents who are either healthy or at risk of developing diabetes. Specifically, researchers want to find out if a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) can help identify high blood sugar events in teenagers with normal or slightly elevated blood sugar levels. The study will include 100 participants aged between 30 and 60 years old, with a body mass index (BMI) between 23 and 35. Participants with certain health issues, significant alcohol use, or who are current smokers will not be eligible.
If you or a family member decide to participate, you’ll need to attend two visits at the study site after a night of fasting. During the first visit, a small device will be placed on your body to continuously monitor your blood sugar for at least three days. You will also provide blood samples and answer questions about your health and lifestyle. It's important to continue your usual eating and activity habits during this time. The researchers will analyze the data collected to better understand how blood sugar levels change throughout the day and after meals. This study could help improve our understanding of blood sugar management in young people at risk for diabetes.
