ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to secure skin flaps after a mastectomy, which is a surgery to remove breast tissue. The goal is to find out which method—running sutures or interrupted sutures—helps prevent complications like seromas, which are fluid collections that can occur after surgery. Researchers believe that using running sutures might be the best option, but this study will directly compare both methods to see which one works better.
To participate in this trial, women aged 18 and older who need a mastectomy may be eligible. Participants will have a few extra outpatient visits, but these will be combined with their regular follow-up appointments, making it convenient. The study will monitor any complications that arise, such as infections or bleeding, as well as how long the surgery takes and how the final results look. It's important to note that women who are having different types of breast surgery, like breast-conserving therapy or reconstruction, cannot join this trial.
