ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how voice and speech may change during episodes of mania in people with Bipolar I Disorder. Researchers want to understand these changes better to improve treatment and care for individuals experiencing mania, which is a phase of the disorder marked by elevated mood, increased activity, and sometimes risky behavior.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be English speakers who have been diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder and are currently hospitalized or in an emergency department due to a manic episode. It's important that participants can provide informed consent, meaning they understand and agree to take part in the study. Those with certain conditions, like substance use or specific psychiatric issues, may not be eligible. Participants can expect to have their voice and speech observed and analyzed during their treatment, contributing valuable information to the understanding of mania.
