ClinConnect Summary

The Breast Cancer Exercise Intervention Study is looking at how a structured exercise program can help women with early-stage and locally advanced breast cancer. This program lasts for 24 weeks and includes aerobic exercises (like walking or cycling) and strength training to help build muscle. Participants will attend three sessions each week. The first nine sessions will be in-person with trained physiotherapists, and the remaining sessions will either be monitored through video calls or supervised at local gyms.

To join the study, women must be at least 21 years old and have been diagnosed with stage 1, 2, or 3 breast cancer. They should have had surgery to treat their cancer and may have received chemotherapy or radiation therapy. However, if someone has serious health issues that prevent them from doing moderate exercise, they won’t be able to participate. This study aims to see how exercise can improve health and well-being during recovery from breast cancer treatment.
