ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how children with Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic condition that affects how they learn and understand language, process sounds. Researchers want to learn more about the differences in hearing and speech development in these children compared to those who develop typically or have a history of premature birth. They will use a variety of tests, including speech and language assessments, brain scans, and hearing tests, to get a better understanding of how sound perception works in young children with Fragile X Syndrome.
To participate, children aged 2 to 4 years old who have a diagnosis of Fragile X Syndrome, typical development, or a history of premature birth may be eligible. They should be able to sit up on their own, and English should be spoken at home. Importantly, children should not have had any seizures in the last six months, and those in the typical development or Fragile X groups should have been born after 32 weeks of pregnancy. Participants will be involved in various assessments that will help researchers gather important information about speech and hearing differences, which could lead to better support and interventions for children with Fragile X Syndrome.
