ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different treatments for a condition called Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome, which can cause pain and difficulty in moving the jaw. The researchers want to compare the effects of a procedure called arthrocentesis, where fluid is removed from the joint, to arthrocentesis combined with an injection of a substance called hyaluronic acid, which may help lubricate the joint and reduce pain. This trial aims to see which method is more effective for patients who have had ongoing symptoms for more than three months and did not improve with other medical treatments.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 18 and 45 years old and experience symptoms such as difficulty opening their mouth, pain in the jaw area, headaches, and tenderness in certain areas around the head. They must also have a specific type of jaw joint problem confirmed by an MRI. However, people who have had previous surgeries on their jaw joint, certain types of arthritis, or significant health issues will not be able to participate. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to receive one of the two treatments and be monitored for their symptoms to see how well the treatment works.
