ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how early speech therapy can help people who experience voice changes after having their thyroid gland removed (a surgery called thyroidectomy). Sometimes, patients may notice their voice sounds different or is harder to use after this surgery, even if there are no obvious problems with the nerves controlling the voice. The researchers want to see if providing speech therapy before and immediately after surgery can improve these voice changes and help patients communicate better.
To participate in this study, you need to be scheduled for a total thyroidectomy and be between the ages of 21 and 65. You should also be able to sign a consent form agreeing to join the trial. If you have had previous issues with your vocal cords, other throat problems, or certain health conditions, you may not be eligible. Participants will receive guidance on how to manage their voice post-surgery and will work with speech therapists to improve their vocal health. This trial is currently looking for volunteers to help understand the best ways to support patients in their recovery.
