ClinConnect Summary
The HOME Study is a clinical trial designed to help people living with brain injuries improve their diets through nutrition counseling. Many individuals who have had a brain injury may struggle with health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure, but often do not receive the nutrition advice they need. This study aims to find out if personalized nutrition therapy sessions with a Registered Dietitian can lead to better eating habits compared to just receiving basic nutrition handouts.
To participate, you need to be at least 18 years old, live in Alabama, have a history of brain injury, and have internet access for virtual meetings. If you join the study, you will fill out a survey and take part in three days of dietary recalls over Zoom or the phone. You will either receive three one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions or standard handouts to compare the results. This study is currently recruiting participants and hopes to see if tailored nutrition guidance makes a difference in dietary intake for those recovering from brain injury.
