ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of music can help reduce pain and increase comfort for premature infants during a procedure called a retinopathy examination. This examination is important for checking the eyes of these babies, especially those born before 34 weeks of pregnancy, but it can be uncomfortable and cause stress. The researchers want to see if playing music during the exam can make the experience better for the babies.
To participate in this study, infants must be preterm, born weighing less than 2000 grams, and have not yet had their first eye examination for retinopathy. They should also not be receiving any sedative or pain-relieving medications before or during the exam. Parents of eligible babies will be asked to agree to join the study. If chosen, the babies will experience the examination while different types of music are played, helping researchers determine the best way to support their comfort during this important procedure.
