ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a sweetener called erythritol affects the way our blood cells, known as platelets, behave and how it impacts inflammation in our blood vessels. Participants will drink beverages sweetened with either erythritol or another sweetener called aspartame for two weeks at a time, alternating between the two in a randomized order. The goal is to see if erythritol has any different effects compared to aspartame.
To participate in the trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a body mass index (BMI) of 27 or higher. However, people with a history of certain medical conditions, such as blood clots or heart problems, or who are currently pregnant or using specific medications, won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to follow a specific diet and avoid certain medications during the trial period. It's a great opportunity to help researchers learn more about how what we eat can affect our health!
