ClinConnect Summary

The Metabolic Health Improvement Program is a study designed to see how a workplace ban on sugary drinks, along with brief counseling sessions, can improve health among employees. Researchers are particularly interested in how this program affects issues like obesity, abdominal fat, and insulin sensitivity, which is how well the body processes sugar. The study is currently looking for full-time employees at Sutter Health locations who are between the ages of 65 and 74, speak and read English, and drink at least three sugary beverages a week. Participants will also need to agree to have their blood tested twice while fasting.

If you join the study, you’ll be part of a program that encourages healthier habits by limiting access to sugary drinks and providing support through counseling. It's important to note that pregnant individuals are not eligible to participate. This study aims to understand better how these changes can help improve health for employees in real workplace settings.
